So many choices, so little time!
So a short brief is in order: I am attempting to post to my “blog” from Word 2007. “What the hell?” You may say?
Friday was the Microsoft Vista Launch Event for RIT, they mostly just gave us a lame presentation on the “kewl” things in Vista and Office 2007. One of which features was posting to your blog from Word 2007.
The technology itself is nothing new; all it does is make an RPC call to a script that’s in the installation of your blogging software.
Anyway, to the topic at hand!
Coops
Summer is approaching, and its time for coops. Last year I did Spring and Summer, this year I decided to mix it up a little bit with Summer and Fall (Fall generally sucks the most at RIT, short of winter of course). Now my dilemma is, I have more than one job offer to choose from!
Right Now Technologies has offered me a generous $16 an hour to work for them, details include:
- Time and a half over time
- Located in Pittsford NY (30 minute drive from my apartment)
- Very small branch of a national company
And big surprise, Thomson West has offered me a position in Analytic Law Development (my previous job), with a $0.75 raise, starting me at $16.25 for the Summer, and $17 for the Fall quarter.
- I know the job, am fully trained already.
- I know the coworkers, get along with them great.
- Located downtown Rochester, so very easy to get eats for lunch
- Thomson has an awesome cafeteria for breakfast ;-)
- The pay is much better.
So how is this a hard decision? Well, I really enjoyed working at Thomson for my last coop – but you have to admit, it was mostly so fun because I worked with 6+ other RIT friends that I already knew. There is a chance that one or two may come back with me this summer. Other than that, Thomson would probably be the same old work, nothing new.
The thing with Right Now is that it is somewhat new, but its still web related work – which everyone knows I am fairly good at, but don’t have any desire to do as a real job.
I still have not heard from Blue Tie.
I am unsure which position I will accept, but will wait till I get my actual offer from Right Now in the mail before deciding.
woot! for you. If I was in your position, and good at WebDev stuff, I would probably choose RightNow because it would be something different, and possibly new. Have they given you a tour of the place? What you would be working on, etc?
And the plugin for v3.newzbin.com is sweet, although I am not using it, I dont have GDesktop, it looks sweet, and would totally be useful. Can you search all of usenet as well as newzbin with it? or any of the other search options newzbin has?
